This day seemed like every other day. I was awakened by the chirping of my alarm, stretched my way to bed, grabbed a cup of coffee and was on my way to work. Upon arriving I clocked in and went about my daily tasks. Later my supervisor sent me above the small office to retrieve some supplies. I quickly discovered water damage had weakened the floor and I found myself flat on my back, staring through a hole in the ceiling trying to find the breath that the six or so foot drop and taken from me. Later in the ER the doctor showed me the x-ray of my fractured wrist.
The injury itself could have been worse but so could have the situation of being faced with lost wages and rising medical bills for treatment, checkups and rehab. The prospect of going into debt, the affect this would have on my family was daunting. A personal injury/ compensation claim would be long and costly. However I was fortunate, since the incident was an accident at work I was able to file a Compensation Claim. Knowing my family was taken care of, I was better able to focus on my recovery.
